Celebrating our slow fashion ethos, Nora is an ode to the art of handmade. Beginning with four wood blocks intricately hand-carved to create two traditional jaal and buti floral designs, skilled artisans then use the blocks to slowly and carefully hand print delicate noir hues with a cacao outline upon the softest cotton voile. Tiers of printed fabric have then been gracefully layered and finished with mother-of-pearl buttons from bodice to base, forming this free flowing feminine style lovingly hand-crafted by a small group of women in Jaipur, India.

Due to this style's production process taking several months to create, each Nora maxi dress is completely unique and one-of-a-kind and is only available in extremely limited quantities.

100% Cotton. This style features an underlining. The latest release of the Nora maxi dress has been crafted with a slightly more full bodied cotton - we hope you love the update as much as we do.

Garment Care

We recommend a gentle, cold water hand wash using natural detergents, and hang drying in the shade. Handcrafted garments are delicate, however, designed to last when treated mindfully with love and care.

Lovingly handmade in India, each piece may vary slightly in colour — a natural part of its unique beauty.

HAND BLOCK PRINTED IN INDIA

Hand block printing is a traditional artisan technique that uses hand-carved wooden blocks to print fabric by hand. Rooted in Indian craft traditions, the process is slow and highly skilled, beginning with carving rosewood blocks and carefully preparing the fabric.

Eco-friendly dyes are mixed by hand and stamped in precise alignment, often in layers to build the design. The fabric is then washed, dried, and quality-checked, resulting in textiles that celebrate sustainability, human rhythm, and individual artistry.

Empowering women

At the heart of Daughters of India, we believe supporting women to feel empowered is a key component of a positive future.

We have pledged an ongoing monthly donation of $10,000 to support our charity partnerships Sewing the Seeds and Saheli Women.

Sewing the seeds

Sewing the Seeds is a women’s empowerment initiative that uses education and creativity in slow fashion to help break the cycle of poverty for Indian women. Their centre offers training in business, finance, and women’s health, fostering self-confidence in a supportive environment.

We have committed to a monthly donation of $5,000 to support their impactful work.

Saheli Women

We’re working with Saheli women to launch Saheli Kapas, a Cotton Project, to support and empower female farmers at the root of the supply chain. Saheli Women believe true fashion starts with the Earth and the women who nurture and farm it.

The pilot begins with five women and their farms, providing them with training, direct income, and ongoing support. By offering access to quality seeds and low-water sustainable practices, we aim to uplift communities while honouring Mother Earth.

We endeavour to process your order within 1-3 business days. Orders are dispatched from our studio in Tweed Heads and shipped via Australia Post and Startrack. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.
